In the near future, the industry will face issues of innovation based on new models of production and development that must combine country economic competitiveness to the new global cultural driver such as environmental protection, sustainable development, health, safety, etc. An important revolution will come from advanced materials and nanotechnologies that will produce a radical innovation on materials.
The tendency to materials lightening requires a series of actions aimed to structural optimization, integration, selection of innovative materials lighter than those traditionally used. Plasma technology raised great interests in the scientific community, given to the multiple benefits in industrial applications (textile/manufacturing, optics, electronics, medical and mechanical engineering) and in basic research.
Plasma technology offers an alternative to conventional chemistry in the process of surface finishing of materials, with many benefits due to its high eco-sustainability.
